CGFB is a federative organization supported by the Bordeaux Segalen University (UBS) together with Bordeaux 1 University, Bordeaux Polytechnic Institute, CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research), INSERM (National Institute for Medical Research), Bordeaux University Hospital and the Bergonié Institute (Cancer research center and hospital).
Within the strategic plan of Bordeaux Segalen University, CGFB is presented as a Federative Research Unit (SFR) for the use of the research laboratories pooled in the various SFR (Public Health and Society, Neurosciences, Fundamental Biology and Biology applied to Medical Research, Health related Technologies and Integrative Biology and Ecology).
The governance structure consists in a direction team a Coordination Committee. CGFB activities are appraised by the Scientific Council and the Administration Authority Council.
The Coordination Committee makes decisions on the use of available resources, selects and plans actions, coordinates organization and functioning rules of the platforms (budget and finances management, invoices, quality matters) and issues a yearly activity report at the beginning of the N+1 year. The Coordination Committee is convened 4 or 5 times per year.
The Scientific Council meets every other year. The Council aims at analyzing CGFB activities from an external point of view and at issuing overall recommendations and advice.
The Administration Authority Council aims at validating the strategy and the overall orientations suggested by the Direction team and the Coordination Committee. This consultation meeting makes it possible to coordinate supporting policies for the CGFB. This council defines human and financial resources that can possibly be made available to the CGFB.
